Beginnings

I love new beginnings!
Nothing like a new year to spark goal setting.
It is also a time when many of us, myself included, hit the reset button for one thing or another. There is enough evidence to demonstrate that writing down and tracking goals leads to a measure of success so here I go! I have had my fun with calculating ounces of water consumed, exercise classes attended (say yes to yoga)* and hours of sleep attained. My over arching goal is to commit to the habits that lead to success in self care, leaving room for growth with refreshing new habits.

Each January, I choose a word to live with for 365 days. This is my 7th year and my hope is  that the word will define my year in a positive way. I was first introduced to One Little Word through a storyteller whose blog I enjoy. Some years I created inspiration boards, but other years the word has just lived in my heart. Purposely omitted is my 2019 word which was RESTORE. Save yourself the trouble if you are considering that word. They can't all be great right? Oddly enough that word did serve a vital role but I passed on the visual reminder. The words are on display in no particular order because they are now all a part of me.
My new word is on its' way.
Suffice to say that we DO live what is in our hearts and words are very powerful. If one should get serious about this discipline there is an electronic word generator with a social media group for accountability. Feel free to check it out if you would like to play along.

Back to goals!

1. Read

I hope to fill in my 2020 reading library by years' end.
The book title is penciled in when I start to read the book.
Sketching is not a daily practice yet, but I do feel more confident thanks to a free on line  Sketchnote Boss Class  that I am taking to remind me to doodle to my hearts content.
I do have trouble sitting down to read.
Audible and the FREE downloads from the public library will help me with this goal.

2. Read Music & Play Piano

I will just leave this lofty goal here and see where it goes!

3. Be a Maker

I had so much fun designing for Scraps of Love that I would like to grow through teaching a class and designing for other teams. All this requires more social media presence and some great photos.

4. Give

Sew 120 diaper shirts to bless families caring for their micro preemie babies at two of our local hospitals.
I have made a few hundred shirts as a certified sewer for Twenty Five and Four
Few things feel as rewarding as sharing time with my grand daughter while working on this project. She is approaching 10 years old and LOVES visiting the nursery to catch a glimpse of the babies.
We are already crushing it this year!
We are going to record our deliveries on a little card.

It will take much faith and discipline to accomplish these goals.
HOPE will be by my side!
Hope holds promise and strength.
Faithfulness. His and mine.

I am reminded that time is a gift.
I hope to spend more time with this guy
and these guys
and last but not least this guy
(say yes to yoga)*
It only took us 12 years to discover that the sedative for New Years' Eve fireworks is wrapping our girl tightly in a blanket. Hoping this works for our monsoon storms!

This past Saturday 42 princesses and their grown ups spent the day crafting and enjoying fellowship. My grand daughter and I attended the annual Scrap Chicks event again this year.

She is mostly cowgirl but ALL heart for the Lord. I am still smiling at her decision to 'stage' her horseshoe for the photo with a background paper and still teary eyed that she penned this scripture from memory!
The day could have lasted forever for both of us!
Our baking assistant will be old enough to join us next year.
and just like that it is February!

So we do not lose heart.
Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
