Thank you Container Store for Speaking my Love Language

A well organized home requires constant assessment. Over the last year and a half most of us have realized that our homes need to adapt quickly. If you were organized going into the lockdown it was much easier to accommodate school and work at home spaces.

I have toured hundreds of houses over the last 25 years AND what instantly captures me is a well organized home. All houses require systems for the stuff we use and store. How we dwell is as relevant as where we dwell.

If you are already breaking out in a sweat then hand it off.

I have helped many folks set an intention to get organized

and would be happy to help you achieve your goals.

Call or text me to set up a time.

First things first.

Eliminate duplicity!

When it comes to non-consumables there is really no reason to have 2 of the same item.

There are many tools to help with drawers and closets but none are really necessary.

What is necessary is time.

It begins one drawer at a time.
One cupboard at a time.
One closet at a time.
 One room at a time.
It does not happen overnight but a little progress each day will provide results!
All it takes is 1% per day to keep it moving forward. Take it as fast or slow as you wish.

A tough place to start is to think about how you shop and why you buy. Shop for ideas, shop to stimulate creativity and buy when you LOVE it and know exactly where it will be placed in your home. Then give yourself permission to put it in your cart. Perhaps sleep on it. Slowing that acquisition process evokes more gratitude and achieves the end goal.

The process is the same for a drawer, cupboard, closet or room.

The BEST place to start is with cleaning supplies. CAN WE TALK FOR A MINUTE! I have packed dozens of homes. Every home has an abundance of cleaning products in multiple locations. When moving, these items are the last to leave a home and the first to arrive at a new home. They usually ride in the car and are fashionably 'essential'.

Our home is fortified by MELALEUCA (click on the link if you would like to join and feel free to use my name for the referral) The wellness company has nature inspired products with botanical formulas. I actually look forward to placing my monthly order and have expanded the products to include personal grooming and medicinal items over the last 5 years.  These products ship as a concentrate.

Most homeowners store these items under the sink. Start by collecting all the cleaning supplies in your home and set them up on the kitchen counter so you can see what you have. Combine any products that are exact duplicates. It may take a while to get all your bottles the same. The trick is to use all your unwanted products NOW! In any organizing project the container is key to create visual harmony. Find the products you love and stick with a brand. Decant the products into dollar store bottles and label them. Having them all the same just makes it look more organized. Use the containers with the least amount of product on your next few cleanings and you will soon be ready to get new supplies.

This pull out from Lowes organizes ALL my daily cleaning supplies with room to spare.
Rolling carts can help with odd sized items.
Keep the floor clear by using Command hooks.

Have fun!
