Jumpin' January

This month has been so full already but a healthy pace has been set for work and play, the first of which included our traditional New Years Day hike into Sabino Canyon! This annual 7 mile hike ascends 5,000 feet to a a breathtaking view of God's creation.  Truly a Rocky Mountain high!


If you look closely you can see a lone saguaro at the top.



What a giant surprise to see flowing water in the desert.


On the art scene, I had the privilege of hosting the Scrap Queens swap.  These gal pals are 'kind, smart AND important'. Our lives are enriched by knowing one another and the shared creations are off the charts beautiful.

After a delicious potluck meal, we exchanged 'art'ifacts (that's the stuff scrapbooks are made of). What an amazing tribute to womanhood by these talents that chronicle the everyday lives of their families.

Our reigning Royal Karen coordinates the details of what, how, and who (not sure how she does all this) so that we can just have fun!

In a couple of months I will be closing the chapter on these lovely little mini-book sessions. Time to learn some new techniques!



So I have been thinking about my next looooong project. It was not hard to decide to put together a book that will tell the story of this 20th anniversary of living with our home. So fitting since I LOVE everything HOUSE! This project will last all year and I can't wait to share the story with you.

The most exciting  opportunity has come my way. I will be cruisin' CHA 2012 in Anaheim this weekend with some great girlfriends. Our residential real estate market closed 2011 with the average days on market at 108 days. There continues to be about 7,000 homes listed for sale. The year closed with an average of 800 home sales monthly in the greater Tucson area. Not surprisingly 50% of the homes sold are in the Northwest. The average sales price was $ 166,998.

Pardon my exuberance as I gush over becoming a grandmother for a second time. The big event is days away which is why I am posting now 'cause just for the record: February is gonna be busy!
